New Paper Crafting Must-Haves for 2014

Happy Crafting in 2014!
If the new paper crafting products introduced at the Winter CHA show in Anaheim are any indication of what's to come this year, we should have a fantastic time creating new cards, scrapbook layouts, books, journals, books and all kinds of great craft projects!

Leaving 2013 behind, and looking forward to 2014
2013 was quite the year.  We lost our precious Isaac in the spring, three weeks before we left on our two month adventure.  We traveled the Pacific coast Highway 101, down the Pacific Coast, from northern Washington to California!  With all of the forest fires in the western USA this summer, I had to do quite a bit of changing our route to avoid fires. It sure made things interesting....Despite avoiding fires on the way home, we had a wonderful vacation...The scenery was breathtaking! We visited so many lovely small towns along the coast and met so many wonderful people. ..The best part, (I think) we were eating Dungeness Crab every night for supper!! Can't complain about that!! (Especially when someone else cooks and cleans them, I just had to warm them up!!) It was a great vacation, even though our little friend wasn't with us...(This was the first year of travelling without Isaac)

We came home in September, and I started having health issues. After 3 weeks of doctoring, and tests, I ended up in hospital for two months, and poor Gord, was left to take care of the business.   He was great!
I'd like to thank my customers for being so patient while I was in hospital and things were running a little slower.  Gord was processing and filling orders during that time as well as packing and mailing.  When he didn't know what an item looked like, or where it was in the shop, he'd phone me in the hospital, and I'd 'navigate' him by telephone!, so things took a little longer.  Giggle. He still got the orders out within 48 hours!

Normally, Gord does all the packing for our orders, and is known for his ability to keep postage rates for our customers as low as possible.  (he even cuts down envelopes down to pare off grams to save money on postage)! Thanks Gord, you're doing a wonderful job...Thanks!! (my official thank you)

Now, onto the fun stuff!

New Product Introductions
Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer tool

Tim Holtz has been busy!  Luckily (for my wallet),...not all of the new products will be available at one time. Tim's products will be made available at various times from January to July.
I am super excited about the new Distress Marker Spritzer!  I've wanted one of these spritzers for years, but could never find one!!  Thank you Tim and Ranger!!
This handy little tool converts your markers to a spritzer that creates an air-brushed effect on your paper using your Markers! You simply insert your marker brush tip into the adjustable insert, (the Keyword here is Adjustable)...You can use most brands of markers with this tool, not just Distress Markers, and squeeze the bulb to spritz ink on paper or craft projects to create an air-brushed effect! We are expecting it to arrive in Mid February.

We are taking pre-orders for it, to make sure we bring enough of them in.  Because of it's versatility and ability to use other brands of markers, it's proving to be very popular! Get yours ordered soon, so you aren't disappointed!
It can be found in my online catalog under  2014 Tim Holtz /Ranger Releases  (click on thumbnails for expanded window with price, size, description, etc) Email me at integritydes at gmail dot com for pre-order information.

Exciting News from Memory Box
Memory Box has released some lovely new Stencils as well as a large selection of New dies and stamps that are now available to order! They're gorgeous! and, like everything else Memory Box makes, the stencils are very high quality and fun to use. Some of their stencils are designed to be layered with another one.
Garden Bloom and Brilliant Peony are two of the stencils that coordinate.
They are 3.7 x 5.5 inches in size, and are perfect for scrapbook layouts and large, 5x7 inch cards.  They can be used on their own, or layered.
What a beautiful card background they'd make...Use the Brilliant Peony stencil  alone inking with a darker color of ink than you've used for a sponged or blended background for a subtle effect, or layer  inks, using the two stencils on your card for a bolder effect.  Add a sentiment die cut........some ribbon, and  few pearls for bling (I use Viva Decors Pearl Pens, as they have a large assortment of colors, including metallic) and you are done!
To view the  colors of Viva Decor Pearl Pens, visit Integrity Designs online catalog: Embellishments section.
Memory Box has also created a large selection of stencils that work well on their own.  It was difficult to choose which one to upload to show you! There are 25 new stencil designs, ranging from Snowflakes to funky Ray effects to chose from.  Since I can't make up my mind, I will include a link to our online catalog, to Memory Box and Poppy Stamps products   section. There you will find all of their stencils and dies.

New Memory Box and Poppy Stamps cutting dies and stamps now available!
Memory Box and Poppy Stamps produce thin metal dies that cut excellently! These popular dies are fantastic!  One pass through your die cutting machine will cut most die cleanly with no ragged edges. They also have many dies that have coordinating overlays to add intricate details and dimension, and cling mounted rubber stamps to add interest and dimension to the die cut.
Integrity Designs Rubber Stamps have a large selection of Memory Box and Poppy Stamps dies in stock, and if we don't have what you want in stock, we'll order it for you.
All of Memory Box dies can be seen in our online catalog under:
Cutting dies -Memory Box & Poppy Stamps  We have 895 Memory Box dies in our online catalog, many of which are in stock.  In the online catalog, click on the thumbnail image for information and pricing.
There are over 100 new die designs!  The first one I've shown here is one of Memory Box's new releases, a cute border die called Cottage in the Woods!  Memory Box has a huge selection of lovely borders for every type of project!
The lower die shown is Delightful Peony Outline die 98742.  It can be used alone, or layered with a coordinating die Delightful Peony Background 98744.
I had to include one of my favorite dies from this new January release from Memory Box.  It's called Happy Birthday Extravaganza 98765.  It is 4.7 x 1.9 inches in size.  I think it would be perfect for a quick birthday card: You could do a lovely blended background using distress stains or inks; or use your stencils with sprays or inks, then if you'd like to add more dimension, emboss with an embossing folder,  mount the die cut with pop dots, then add some bling!  Quick and easy for those surprise birthdays that pop up unexpectedly!

I'd like to share a beautiful card that was created by a customer who lives in Portugal, Thank you Anna A. for sharing your creation, and allowing me to share it with my blog readers.

Anna used the Sizzix die: BIGZ Album, Accordion Flip 3D 65-8035 and Memory Box Leaping Deer that she bought from us at Integrity Designs Rubber Stamps.

TIPS using thin metal dies
Generally speaking, there are two types of cutting dies.  Steel Rule dies, (made by Sizzix) and thin metal dies.  Steel Rule dies are thicker, and have a wide cutting blade that is located in the foam.  The foam is to protect you from the sharp blades. These dies are designed to cleanly cut thicker materials such as leather, chipboard, fabric, even thin metal using a die cutting machine such as Big Shot, Vagabond, Cuttlebug, etc.  To use, steel rule dies, sandwich the die between the cutting pads for your machine. (never use cutting pads from a different machine, you may break your machines, as they are different thicknesses.
Thin metal dies are not designed to cut heavy-weight or very thick materials.  There are several companies who make thin dies, (including Sizzix), and every machine has it's own 'sandwich'.  See the booklet that came with your die cutting machine, or check with the manufacturers website.  Sizzix machines such as Big Shot, Vagabond, etc have the 'sandwich recipe' illustrated on their multi-purpose platform.
Thin Metal dies
If you are using a larger, or very intricate die, such as a doily die, some of the fine details may not cut completely.  Memory Box and Poppy Stamps dies give me the least issues with this...
Because different parts of your machines rollers may give different pressure, some areas of the die may not cut through evenly. If this happens, run your die and paper through again, after turning it 1/4 turn.  It will go through your machine at a different area of the rollers.  This usually does the trick! I have one larger die that is so intricately detailed, that I have to run it through four times, turning it with each pass through the machine. With many of my dies, even though they cut through perfectly, I have found that if I use the Memory Box Adapter (metal shim), the dies cut cleaner, and sharper.  A friend recommended that I try the adapter, and since then I've been using it.  The dies cut good before, but, with using the adapter, the cuts are perfect!

All Waxed Papers are not created Equal!
Are you having troubles getting out the tiny bits of paper from the small parts of the cutting dies?-- Use Waxed paper (Place between die and cardstock) This helps the pieces come out easier!
Just don't do what I did...I sent Gord to get more waxed paper, and he came home with a 'cheap' brand that he picked up at Giant Tiger. (Canadian discount store)  It was half the price the 'Brand name' type I usually buy.  I thought waxed paper is waxed paper....no problem....I was wrong!  Not only is it thinner, it has less wax on it....What a disaster!...what's worse....I was a dummy, and used it with the last piece of one of my cherished papers...You know the papers;  I think we all have them....the ones we love so much that we don't want to use it...we're saving it for a very special project...
Because Gord had been teasing me about hoarding my special papers, I decided to show him I could do it
I picked my most favorite paper, which was only a small piece, that I've had for years, and decided to use it ...with a die, and, the new waxed paper.... ..well, I ended up spending a very, very long time picking pieces to save my die cut image..(any other paper I'd probably put it to the side..and eventually chucked it!)....Be Careful when using cheap, discount waxed paper from the dollar or discount store. Try it before using with your special papers so you don't get disappointing surprise!

Now Available!  Anna Griffin Dies and Embossing folders
We have just heard from our supplier that Anna Griffin dies and embossing folders are now available! The embossing folder and matching border shown below is Foulard  20-01944.

Anna Griffin Embossing folders can be found in the Embossing Folder section of our online catalog.
Her embossing folders are available in 5x7 and A2 size.  Both sizes come with coordinating borders.
These new border embossing folders by Cuttlebug do not leave a ridge on the paper from the side of the embossing folder, the way the old ones used to do. They are lovely!   Cuttlebug ironed out that bug a few years ago.
As well as finding Anna Griffin's embossing folders in the Embossing Folders section of our online catalog, you will find folders from Couture Creations (Australia), Craft Concepts (Australia), Crafts-too (United Kingdom), Cuttlebug and more. that are either in stock, or available from the supplier.
